Hi! I'm Hannah Kim, a rising junior at Fairfax High School in Fairfax County, Virginia. I have a dream of becoming a dermatologist. I've always been passionate about helping others, and as I learned more about medicine, I was surprised by how many people don't realize the lasting effects that ultraviolet (UV) radiation can have on both their skin and their eyes.

That inspired my partner and me to start UVision. I believe that many UV-related conditions are preventable through education and simple everyday habits. My goal is to make sure everyone understands the harmful effects of UV rays. This applies all throughout the year, not just during the summer.

Through UVision, I hope to educate students, families, and communities about protecting their skin and vision while encouraging lifelong sun-safe habits. As I continue my journey toward a career in dermatology, I want to use my passion for medicine and community service to make a meaningful difference. I hope UVision grows into a movement that empowers people around the world to protect their health today and for the future.

Greetings! My name is Brandon Lee, and I am a rising junior at Briar Woods High School in Loudoun County, Virginia. I am passionate about healthcare services and public health, with aspirations of becoming an ophthalmologist. Through my past and current experiences with research, leadership, and community service, I have developed a strong desire to promote preventive healthcare and raise awareness for vision and UV safety.

As a child, I always enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was playing tennis, basketball, or simply being active with friends. As I became more interested in medicine, I began learning about how something as ordinary as sunlight could have short-term and long-term effects on our health. I was surprised to discover that many people, especially children and families, are COMPLETELY unaware of the long-term damage that ultraviolet (UV) radiation can cause to both our eyes and skin. Furthermore, I learned that it is not complicated to protect ourselves from UV rays. People can easily develop simple habits like wearing UV400 sunglasses, applying sunscreen, or checking the UV index on the weather app.

My co-founder and I created UVision to turn that belief into action. I hope to inspire lifelong sun-safe habits in the community and protect both vision and skin health for current + future generations.

Hi! I'm Forest Lan, a rising junior at Chantilly high school. My motivation stems from witnessing individuals in my immediate community with avoidable dermatological complications which compelled me to realize that accessible and effective preventative measures should be more prevalent in the community. As a student aiming for a carrer in the medical realm, I am deeply committed to making meaningful altruistic change within my community. This obligation carries weight, given that I mentor and coach youth in my local summer swim league, all throughout the sunniest days of the year.

Through UVision, my objective is to establish an expansive education platform designed to optimize public reach but also societal impact. Instead of just providing facts, I am dedicated to fostering actionable, sun safe behaviors that people can internalize and then pass down to future generations, ensuring long term health

Hello! My name is Grace Yoon, and I am a rising junior at Fairfax High School in Fairfax County, Virginia. As someone who aspires to be a pediatrician, I believe it is essential to educate myself on a wide variety of medical specialties, including dermatology. While children may have designated pediatricians, they typically do not have dermatologists (including myself). Without a specialist who constantly examines your body, it is often difficult to see how your skin and eyes are affected by UV light. Thus, I decided to join UVision to help raise awareness about the harmful effects of UV light and take initiative.

As a child, every time my mom nagged me to put sunscreen on, I felt nothing but annoyance. Although, many individuals may refuse to admit it, that seemingly insignificant step of putting on sunscreen can make a huge impact on your life. It's understandable to feel too lazy to put on sunscreen, but I've learned to realize that sacrificing even a single minute can save your life.

Through the non-profit UVision, I hope to motivate others by helping them invest more time dedicated to UV-light protection because sun safety is for everyone.

Hi! My name is Abhishek Roy, and I am a rising junior at Briar Woods High School in Loudoun County, Virginia. I joined UVision because I have seen firsthand how easy it is for people to underestimate the effects of UV exposure. Friends, peers, and even members of my own family have often been unaware of things like how UV radiation can still affect you on cloudy days or how easily areas like the ears and neck can be overlooked when applying sunscreen. Seeing how small misunderstandings can add up over time made me want to help make UV safety information easier for people to understand and act on.

What interests me most is the ability technology gives us to take something that might normally reach a small group of people and put it in front of a much larger audience. The internet gives organizations like UVision opportunities to reach people far beyond their immediate communities, and I want to make the most of that.

Through UVision, I hope to combine my interest in engineering and emerging technology with my interest in public health. I want to help build systems and ideas that allow UVision to reach more people, make a greater impact, and continue growing its mission of improving awareness around UV safety.

Hello! My name is Tarun Yaddula, and I am a rising junior at Briar Woods High School in Loudoun County, Virginia. Every summer, as a child, I would run around gathering the neighborhood kids and do all kinds of activities. Whether it was going to the pool, playing basketball, or even playing in the backyard. But one thing that never changed was the sun. I remember coming home with sweat dripping down my back, and getting asked the same question: What happened to your skin? At the time I didn't have an answer, and only recognized it as that irritation that I thought had no fix. But after experiencing severe skin damage, I've realized that there is a fix. I joined UVision because I want to spread awareness about how UV exposure can cause risks you may have never even thought of.

As someone who has dealt with UV rays my entire life, I want to impact my community by combining my passion for finance and business with UVision to promote skin health and prevent others from facing the same problems I faced. As the Director of Finance & Development, I aspire to use our resources to reach a wider audience.

As my interest in finance grows, I will analyze fundraisers, develop budgets, evaluate costs, and identify opportunities for sponsorships and grants. I not only want to maximize our growth, but also want to scale our impact for future developments. By making informed financial decisions and finding new ways to support our programs, I hope to help UVision grow while staying focused on our mission of improving UV safety and protecting our community.
